Over the Mam

The journey reaches its dramatic climax as you turn off the A87,15 miles east of Kyle of Lochalsh.

The Mam Ratagan Pass, a single-track road with an incline of >15% in places, leads to the summit of Bealach Ratagan before taking a gentler descent in to the village. Beyond the turn offs for Ratagan, Moyle and Scallasaig, almost 10 miles from the A87 junction, the road forks in two.

Via the right fork is Bernera beach, and a few miles more the slipway for the Glenelg – Skye ferry.

Via the left fork is the village of Glenelg, from which Cosaig House is accessed. Beyond Glenelg the road continues for a further 15 miles, passing Sandaig and Arnisdale, before ending at Corran.
