Glenelg is easily reached by car, and the house requires a four-wheel drive vehicle to access.
Alternatively there is ample free parking in Glenelg and the house is a quick 15 or slow 20 minute walk from the village. We cannot accept liability for damage to vehicles on the access track.
From Edinburgh (approx. 5hrs):
- Use the Queensferry Crossing to take the M90 to Perth and the A9 around the town, in the direction of Pitlochry.
- Perth is the last major stop on the road, where you will find both an Aldi and M&S Food Hall off the A9.
- Follow the A9 through Pitlochry and passed the House of Bruar.
- At Dalwhinnie take the A889 to Laggan, where you will turn on to the A86 to Spean Bridge.
- At Spean Bridge, take the A82 to Invergarry, then take the A87 towards Kyle of Lochalsh.
- Take the A87 towards Kyle of Lochalsh until just beyond Shiel Bridge. A left-hand turn is signed for both Glenelg and the Glenelg – Skye ferry.
From Glasgow (approximately 5 hours):
- Take the M8 west past Glasgow Airport and over the Erskine Bridge.
- Follow the A82 through Loch Lomond and The Trossachs, over Glencoe, and into Fort William.
- Fort William is the last major stop on the road and is a good place to ensure the fuel tank is full and stock up with supplies. You will pass a Morrison’s supermarket with petrol station, and a mile or two further along the route a M&S Food Hall, Aldi and Home Bargains. Beyond these, the Locharber Larder is an independent butcher that is well worth a stop at.
- Beyond Fort William continue on the A82 to Invergarry, then take the A87 towards Kyle of Lochalsh.
- Take the A87 towards Kyle of Lochalsh until just beyond Shiel Bridge. A left-hand turn is signed for both Glenelg and the Glenelg – Skye ferry.
From Inverness (approximately 2 hours):
- Leave Inverness south on the A82.
- At Invermoriston, take the A887 towards Kyle of Lochalsh; this road will merge on to the A87.
- Take the A87 towards Kyle of Lochalsh until just beyond Shiel Bridge. A left-hand turn is signed for both Glenelg and the Glenelg – Skye ferry.
